Georges River 16ft Sailing Club: A Legacy Renewed
Established in 1927, Georges River Sailing Club is a long-standing waterfront venue on the shores of Botany Bay. Following a $12 million transformation, the Club has been reimagined as a contemporary social and dining destination while remaining a proud community hub.
With sweeping views across Dolls Point Beach, the Club now features Porta Dining, a Mediterranean-inspired restaurant, a vibrant sports bar for casual dining and live sport, and a dedicated cocktail bar serving exclusive creations by Maybe Sammy. Guests can also enjoy an enhanced entertainment line-up and versatile event spaces for 25 to 250 guests, perfect for weddings, milestone celebrations, corporate events and community gatherings.
Originally focused on 16ft skiff racing, the club has evolved over the decades, embracing various sailing classes, while also serving as an important social and recreational hub.
Amalgamation to secure the future
In 2022, GRSC entered a new chapter by amalgamating with Club Central, part of the Illawarra Catholic Club (ICC) Group. This strategic partnership integrated GRSC members into the broader Club Central family, granting them access to Club Central Hurstville and Club Central Menai, forming a trio of vibrant venues for members and guests.
Throughout 2023, there were upgrades completed to stunning new function rooms overlooking Dolls Point Beach and Botany Bay as well as other facility upgrades whilst further planning was undertaken for a full renovation. This project commenced in early 2025, with the $12 million renovation project the most extensive in the clubs’ history.
With the sparkle of Botany Bay as a backdrop, GRSC offers stunning spaces to relax and unwind with drinks and dinner, as well as a destination for milestone celebrations – from birthdays and anniversaries to weddings, corporate functions and special community events.
Just 20 minutes from Sydney Airport, Georges River Sailing Club combines history, hospitality and a spectacular bayside setting.
