Laser

For the latest information visit www.grsc.org.au

The Laser is a single-handed racing dinghy. The biggest attraction of the Laser dinghy is that it is protected by the One Design class rules, bronchi which means, no changes are allowed to the boat unless they are specifically permitted in the rules. So in theory all Laser boats are the same whether they are new or 10 years old, making it the sailor that wins the race, not the boat. The Laser is a challenging boat that rewards athleticism, subtle steering and trimming techniques, as well as tactical excellence. It is a singlehanded Olympic class boat, also sailed at club, national and international levels. With over 200,000 boats in 140 countries, it is clearly the world’s most popular adult and youth racing sailboat.

Recognising that the same boat is not well suited to everyone, the Laser has evolved over the years into three separate classes; the Standard, the Radial and the 4.7, In each case, the hull is identical and only the botton mast section and sail are changed to create a completely new class – this is known as the Laser Formula.

Not sure which is the right boat for you?.

Georges River 16ft Sailing Club has a strong fleet of Lasers both Standard rig & Radial rig sailing two  races  every Saturday  starting at 2pm from September to April. See you Saturday afternoon
